Job summary

Novum Health Partnership is looking for a salaried GP who is dedicated and who can provide clinical excellence for our practice population. We are a comprehensive team of GPs and practice nurses backed up by Physician Associates and HCAs. We are a training and teaching practice and have many specialisms eg outreach to the Homeless, substance misuse, LARC clinics, minor surgery.

The GPs see 15 patients per session which include some telephone slots and we are moving to 15 minute appointments. Home visits are few and are usually done by the Hone Visiting team. Administration is reduced to a minimum as this is shared with the PA team.

There are 3 trainers across both sites so plenty of support for newly trained GPs.

Main duties of the job

Doctors either do a routine surgery or are scheduled for the Triage Duty Team. This team sit together in ine rooms and consists of 2 GPs, 2 PAs and 2 receptionists. The GP also share in the daily Docman and lab results and sometimes in signing off ePS.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities:

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self

available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone

consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat

prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Comply with all clinical governance requirements as they relate to continuous improvement

in quality and organisational performance.

Respond to medical problems presented by Practice patients including history taking,

examination, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral where appropriate.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether

self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the Practice

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management

protocols, developing care plans for health

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Participating in QoF and other contractual activities, ensuring targets are met.

Participating in clinical meetings.

Collecting data for audit purposes

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) wheneverthis is clinically appropriate

Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care and advice within thecontext of the Practice.

Admit or discharge patients to and from caseload and refer to care providers internally or

externally as appropriate.

Carry out clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery ofpersonal medical services.

Continually update personal professional knowledge and competence by undergoing

continuing professional development and life long learning.

To have an employment and a professional annual appraisal and to maintain a license to

practice with the GMC.

To work within a team setting, with flexibility and due care for all members of the staff

To work with the Practice Manager, Nurse Practitioner and other practice doctors to ensure

the most effective use of Practice Nurse(s) skills and time
