Job summary

St Mary's Surgery, Windermere is a rural general practice in the heart of the beautiful Lake District, providing high quality primary care services to a population of 6700 patients. We are currently looking to expand our nursing team with the addition of a development role for a treatment room nurse. This would be ideal for candidates currently working in hospital or community nursing who would like to move into a career in Practice Nursing. Full training will be provided to develop the role to cover all aspects of the role outlined below.

We have a small friendly team of 28 staff with a strong commitment to investing in staff wellbeing & training. Our ethos is to provide a high quality of primary care with a firm focus on continuity of care.Working hours are negotiable.

Main duties of the job

  • Wound care
  • Compression bandaging & doppler assessment
  • Childhood Immunisations
  • Travel Health & Immunisations
  • Adult injections
  • Cervical cytology
  • ECG
  • Phlebotomy
  • Supporting our non-registered nursing team staff

1. PURPOSE OF THE POST: To provide a high quality treatment room nursing service to the practice population

2. RESPONSIBLE TO: Lead Nurse

3. MAIN DUTIES:

  • Cytology
  • Wound care assessment and management
  • Dopplers and Compression bandaging
  • Childhood Immunisations
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Other injections including Zoladex & Vitamin B12
  • Seasonal vaccinations including Covid-19
  • Health Education
  • Support for non-regulated nursing team members
  • Management of emergency equipment & drugs
  • Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient medical record
  • Attend and participate in all practice meetings as required
  • Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplines within the Practice, with appropriate regard for nursing staff
  • Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development and to ensure revalidation
