We are looking to appoint a caring and committed part-time Medical Secretary to join our team at the Forest Hill Road Group Practice Surgery.
Main duties of the job
- Typing skills
- IT skills to use the e-referral system
- Minute taking
- Maintaining registers as required
Updating computerised records
Arranging appointments for patients
Liaising with other members of staff within the practice
Liaising with various departments in hospitals
General office duties
Emailing and photocopying
Responsible for prioritising work
To provide a full secretarial services to the GPs.
We are dynamic, forward looking Practice with 5 Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, Advance Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, , 2 HCA, in house Pharmacist supported by our Receptionists and Administrative Team.
We are a Practice that performs well in QOF and other national and local Agreed Services. We currently hold a Good rating with the CQC. The Practice is currently looking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic and hard-working Paramedic practionier to join our team. You will work with the practice team to meet the needs of patients, nurses and GPs following policies.
Typing of referral letters (private and NHS) using both EmisWeb and Microsoft Word. Other typing includes letters for patients to outside agencies, Choose and Book attachment referral letters, invoices, letters to hospitals requesting results of investigations etc.
Assessing work on a daily basis and prioritising accordingly.
Dealing with telephone inquiries to and from:
· Secretaries and staff at hospitals
· Outside agencies
Faxing of referral letters, x-ray requests, investigation results to hospitals and forms to outside agencies.
Internal and external emailing.
Photocopying of all forms completed and filed in patient hand held records.
Liaising with Hospitals
Arranging/ making appointments to:
· NHS hospitals by referral letter, fax, Rapid Access, Choose and Book
· Private hospitals
· Community Services
Liasing with Members of Staff
Liaising with Hospitals
Working alongside various departments in hospital in supporting the continuity of care for the patient, i.e. obtaining results of investigations and letters from hospitals and in turn providing the hospitals with results performed at the surgery and any relevant information which might affect the patient’s hospital care.
