Job summary

The primary job is to exceed our clients expectation for outstanding service while creating a warm and caring environment. Patient Assistant are responsible for creating a good first and last impression on our patients and other service users.

The post holder is required to welcome and direct patients and other visitors on arrival. Handle general enquiries from patients/carers & other outside agencies efficiently and courteously and explain surgery procedures. Divert calls and take messages as required. Receive requests for repeat prescriptions, Basic IT skills is required for this position as the patient assistant will deal with email correspondent from patients and other agencies.

(AM Position) Monday - Friday - 8:30 -13:30

(PM Position) Monday - Friday - 13:00 -19:00 till Jan 2023 and changes toMonday - Friday - 15:00 - 19:00

(PM Position) Monday - Friday - 15:00 - 19:00

Main duties of the job

Receive and direct patients and visitors on arrival.

Handle general enquiries from patients efficiently and courteously.

Answer general enquiries, explain surgery procedures. Divert calls and take messages as required.

Receive requests for repeat prescriptions and generating then from the computer

Effectively manage reception area to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the integrated reception service.

Check practice emails and accurx

Make new and follow up appointments for doctors and nurses, including oral and telephone requests

Answer and address telephone queries, in accordance with best guidance on telephone triage.

Support other administrative responsibilities associated with the role.

Be a key contact for all our clinician team.

Someone who is flexible with their hours.

Able to communicate internally and externally providing a high level of service

Good written skills to respond to member enquiries

Jubilee Street Practice is a NHS GP Surgery located in Commercial Road Tower Hamlet, we have 14000 patients on our register, 4 partner GP, 4 Salaried GP, 1 Diabetes Specialist Nurse, 4 Practice Nurse, 1 Physician Associate, 1 Pharmacist, 1 Assistant Practitioner, 15 Administrators and Patient Assistant.

Our aim is to offer excellent patient centred service using our established team of highly skilled compassionate staff to care for a diverse community. We are looking for someone who has EMIS web experience or has the desire to learn. We would like someone to share our vision to care for the community and patients.
