We have an opportunity for a unique and varied role within a 24,000 patient Surgery, split across three sites in the up and coming town of Hastings. Hastings has seen a population increase since the pandemic with lots of people migrating from the city to live by the seaside and enjoy the trendy, bohemian lifestyle in St Leonards.

The role is split between working as a Triage Lead and a Salaried GP.

Triage Lead:

Dedicated triage hub, situated in the famous Hastings Old Town

Clinical Support from an Allied Healthcare Professional each day

Dedicated admin support

Great working environment and team ethos

Support from Clinical Pharmacy Team

Triage lists for specialist areas

Daily clinical break where all clinical staff meet remotely / face-to-face to discuss clinical cases and queries

Salaried GP

As the triage role is rotated between the Triage Lead and GP Partners, when not working in the triage hub, you will work as a Salaried GP. Our Salaried GP templates include face-to-face and telephone / video appointments, as well as a daily clinical break, admin time and catch up slots.

Main duties of the job

The Role will be split between working as the Triage Lead, and working as a Salaried GP.

Triage Lead

You will be responsible for the oversight and allocation of patient appointments to our multi-disciplinary team, consisting of GP Partners, GP’s, Advance Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Mental Health Nurse, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists.

You will need to demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, working to maximise efficiency and available clinical appointments. This will include, where appropriate, dealing with patient queries that do not need an appointment and can be actioned within the Triage Hub. This may include referrals, telephone calls, text messages, prescription sign off, lab result processing, among other tasks.

Salaried GP

You will be responsible for face to face and telephone consultations with patients presenting with a wide range of minor illness, urgent and same day requests for treatment and chronic disease management, providing care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. You may also be required to complete home visits.

You will need to demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills. You will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner
