Job summary
This role will support the
implementation of support and development of the pharmacist workforce across
Birmingham Solihull CCG (BSOL CCG). This post holder will act as an Pharmacist Facilitator
to support workforce development of all pharmacists working in primary care.
The post holder will support a
portfolio of projects relating to recruitment of pre-registration pharmacists,
supporting primary care pharmacists and workforce planning. They will also professionally support all
teams across Birmingham and Solihull (Bsol) Integrated Care Board (ICB) working
with key stakeholders including BSOL CCG, primary care employers, Health
Education England (HEE), health education institutes (HEI), and NHS England and
Health Education England. The post is an interactive role, developed in
response to the demands of primary care and new emerging roles for pharmacists
in primary care.
The role is part-time 4 sessions per week, flexible days.
If any applicants only had capacity to undertake 1 day per week, we would consider having 2 candidates job share this role undertaking 1 day per week each.
Main duties of the job
In this exciting role you will work with Pharmacists across all stages of their career in primary care, understanding their training needs, building professional networks, and working with universities, colleges and the rest of the training hub team to full embed the role of all pharmacy roles across the region, and ensuring that this workforce is supported and developed across their career in Birmingham and Solihull.
You will be passionate about your profession, experienced in working in primary care, and an educator, keen to contribute to the development of your profession.

Birmingham and Solihull Training Hub are a forward thinking, professional hub focussed on delivering excellence to the multi-agency primary care workforce in our region. We work closely with the Integrated Care System, Health Education England and the other Training Hubs in the Midlands to meet the quality standards expected of us, and support the needs of the workforce.
The role of the hub is to provide:
- Role specific, not mandatory training and development for all primary care staff, including pharmacist, physicians associates, nurses, podiatrists, and all of the additional primary care roles.
- Work with colleagues to promote primary care, answering any questions pertaining to specific roles, including recruitment advice and assistance where required.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders to promote the needs of the workforce, the value of student placements, and the benefits that the roles can bring.

- Train and support
other pharmacy healthcare professionals to perform optimally in their
roles across BSOL footprint
- Facilitate
undergraduate and pre-registration pharmacist placements in primary care
- To participate in
recruitment and training of undergraduate pharmacists and qualified
pharmacists
- Build working
relationships with pharmacy schools to facilitate the development of the
role
- Support the Training
Hub team to support practices across BSOL
- Work with other
primary care facilitators in the Training Hub to actively and positively
promote working in BSOL primary care at all times

one another effectively.
- Promote the role
of clinical pharmacists across BSol
- Promote additional
services to all stakeholders working in primary care across BSol including
training at practice level to support the uptake of services available
- Fully document all
aspects of patient care and complete all required paperwork for legal and
administrative purposes
- Seek advice from
other health professionals / senior pharmacists on matters beyond level of
competence
- To offer guidance,
support and updates to other pharmacists and staff working in general
practice
- Identify areas for
pharmacist and non pharmacist staff development
- Support the
identification and development of learning opportunities for
pre-registration pharmacists and contribute to future curriculum development
of undergraduate and post-graduate pharmacist courses
- Respond to
requests for advice and support from other team members
- Contribute to
clinical patient care and reduce hospital admissions by assisiting with
the design of services for pharmacist team to implement
- Training
pharmacist staff on managing hospital discharges, make interventions and
manage patients in nursing homes
- Deliver
educational training materials for distribution and delivery to patients
about medication and their conditions
