Family Practice Receptionist

HOURS OF WORK: 24
SALARY: £9.00 per hour moving to £9.40
after six month probationary period
Job Summary:
As part of a
team, provide reception services and implementation of Active Signposting and
Care Navigation, ensuring that all patients see the most appropriate clinician
to address their health concern. To ensure patients are signposted
appropriately
Job Responsibilities:
To
provide the first point of contact for patients and visitors to the practice in
a professional manner.
To
handle requests for appointments in line with practice protocol to ensure the
efficient running of the practice appointment system. Including Care Navigation
and Active Signposting
To
handle home visit requests in line with practice protocol.
To
handle patient queries and enquiries efficiently. Including processing
prescription requests in line with practice protocols.
Handling
samples and preparing online test requests and forms to be sent to the hospital
labs.
Respond to requests for test results from
patients, strictly adhering to guidelines on patient confidentiality.
Maintain
accurate computerised patient records, register new patients on to clinical
system, amend registration details and input clinical data in line with
practice protocol.
In
accordance with instruction, carry out any duties which may be requested by the
doctors, practice nurses or practice manager and which may be properly deemed
to be part of the role of the receptionist in general practice.
To
remain calm and prioritise tasks whilst working in a busy environment,
frequently dealing with competing demands from both patients and members of the
practice and attached team.
To
maintain a professional attitude in all communication with patients and members
of the practice team.
Administrative Duties:
Registration
of New and Temporary patients
Updating
patients personal details on clinical system
Updating
carers register
Accepting
and transferring patients via GP2GP system
Oversee
the compilation of patient lists eligible for influenza/pneumococcal/shingles
vaccines and the general administration and setting up of the relevant clinics
and managing long term condition recalls.
Compilation
of data information re appointment audits
Deducting
clinician appointments and rearranging cancelling patient appointments in times
of unplanned absence. Ensuring patients are contacted to cancel and rearrange.
Arranging
Minor Op appointments clinics, advise of waiting lists
Data
input of information from outside agencies/hospitals to patient records on SystmOne
Confidentiality:
In the performance
of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access
to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice
staff and other healthcare workers. They
may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business
organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as
strictly confidential and dealt with in accordance with the Practice policies
and procedures.
