Job summary

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, friendly and reliable medical receptionist to join The Dawley Family.

The post holder(s) will greet patients on entry to the practice and on the telephone and provide a point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff.

Duties will involve:

Dealing with all patient/visitor enquiries

Using appointment systems to book appointments and recalls

Explaining practice arrangements to new and temporary patients

Receiving and making telephone calls, taking messages as required

Ensuring consulting rooms and waiting areas are prepared and kept tidy each day

Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Skills/abilities required:

Excellent customer service skills

Good standard of general education

Excellent communication skills both oral and written

I.T. Literate

General Practice experience desirable

Excellent organisation skills

Flexible and adaptable

Self motivated
