Job summary
We are looking for a knowledgeable, motivated, organised
individual with excellent IT skills to join our close-knit team of Clinical
Coders, Clinical Administration and Summarisers.
The post holder must be able to provide a high quality,
professional clinical administrative service to patients, doctors, staff,
colleagues, health service professionals and others as well as to act within
your professional boundaries, supporting a team of clinicians in general practice.
Experience preferred but full training will be given to the
right candidate
Main duties of the job
- Data entry and read coding of relevant patient information /medical data into clinical system.
- Scanning patient information into computerised records i.e. medical documents, hospital records and letters as necessary.
- Retrieving paper notes as requested.
- Actioning tasks set by clinicians and practice manager.
- Collating/actioning requests for medical records and Insurance reports.
- Reviewing and summarising medical records.
Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Job responsibilities
The role of Read coder is fundamental to the smooth running
of the practice and has a unique role in ensuring accurate patient records are
available for Clinical colleagues.
Liaise with clinical colleagues to ensure that correct
information is recorded for patients and that they are aware of actions
required by the GP.
The post holder will be responsible for reviewing incoming
mail and documents on patients' records ensuring this is accurately recorded in
date order
Collating and actioning requests for medical and
Insurance reports includes liaising with all departments as well as outside
agencies and invoicing
Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are assembled
according to practice protocol, managing workload with an organised and
methodical approach.
Communicate effectively with a range of colleagues and
patients.
Scanning documents, ensuring that they are recorded
accurately and on the correct patient record.
Work accurately when reviewing clinical documentation and
follow clear protocols to ensure that clinical details are recorded accurately
on patient records.
Prioritise your workload on a daily basis.
Work both independently and within a small team.
Remain calm under pressure.
Adopt a flexible working approach to ensure that the
clinical coding team is staffed during periods of absences and sickness when
required.
