Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified, experienced & committed Dispenser to join the Market Cross Surgery Team

  • The successful candidate will have previous dispensing experience and must hold formal dispensing qualifications
  • Work within the parameters of practice Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) in order to comply with the criteria of the Dispensary Services Quality Scheme (DSQS)
  • The role includes dispensing, face to face contact with patients at the dispensary hatch, dealing with telephone enquiries / prescription requests and any other task associated with the smooth running of the Department. These duties are carried out on a rota basis among the Dispensary Team
  • 26 hours per week
  • In addition contracted hours flexibility is required to cover periods of leave within the Dispensary Team. Occasional working on a Saturday may be required, by prior arrangement
  • Start date as soon as possible, however, we would wait for the right candidate

Main duties of the job

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Order stock as required for dispensing patients
  • Receive and check incoming stock
  • Process/print authorised repeat prescriptions
  • Make up outstanding prescriptions from incoming order
  • Maintain stock control
  • Ensure stock is stored in an appropriate manner, including refrigerated items
  • Maintain refrigerator temperature log
  • Dispense and check medication
  • Collect payment for prescriptions and reconcile daily
  • Assist in the monthly collation of prescriptions for despatch to the PPA
  • Maintain Controlled Drugs records as per regulations
  • Receive and deal appropriately with returned medication
  • Ensure the dispensary is kept clean and tidy and equipment is in good working order
  • Act promptly in response to drug alert bulletins
  • Maintain high levels of patient service and confidentiality at all times

We are an expanding, forward thinking rural dispensing practice, situated in the village of Corby Glen, approximately 10 minutes from Bourne and 20 minutes from Grantham

  • The Practice Team consists of 4 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, Triage Nurse, 3 Practice Nurses and Phlebotomist. Managerial, Reception, Dispensary and Secretarial Teams

  • We use SystmOne as our Clinical System.

  • Our core opening hours are Monday - Friday 0800 - 1830 hours.
