Job summary

Purpose

Deliver safe, effective assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients working both independently and collaboratively. Primarily part of the urgent care team, ensuring timely access to high-quality care for patients presenting with acute needs.

Main duties of the job

Role Summary

  • Deliver autonomous, evidence-based care through face-to-face and telephone consultations
  • Act as an Independent Prescriber within agreed clinical guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals to optimise patient outcomes
  • Practice within scope of competence and agreed clinical limits
  • Be accountable for clinical decisions including referral, discharge, and follow-up planning

  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Masters degree (required for ACP qualification post-December 2020, aligned with RCN Credentialing for Advanced Level Nursing Practice).
  • Postgraduate diploma or degree (for ACP qualification up to December 2020).
  • Qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber, registered with the NMC.
  • Compliance with NMC revalidation requirements as outlined in the NMC Revalidation booklet.
  • Technical & Administrative Competence
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with GP practice systems and prescribing data monitoring platforms.
  • Ability to produce clear, comprehensive clinical documentation.
