An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Health Care Assistant. You must want to progress on the pathway to Nurse Associate as part of your role and will be supported to do so by the Practice.
You will be working under the
direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with
specific practice guidelines and protocols, assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed
programmes of patient care.
A pleasant disposition and approachable
manner are key attributes, together with sound communicative and interpersonal
skills. The ability to
exercise tact and discretion, and to use initiative. The ability to work under pressure and as
part of a team are equally important. Be able to prioritise work and meet deadlines. You will work collaboratively with the general
practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy
and procedures.
Ability to use own judgement and
resourcefulness whilst working within limit of own competencies. Ability to
prioritise workload appropriately. The Practice will support the
continuing education and professional development of individuals as deemed
appropriate for the benefit of both the individual and the Practice

Patient health checks
Urinalysis
ECG recording
Phlebotomy
Chaperoning duties
Ear irrigation
BP checks
24 hour BP monitor fittings
Stock checks
Processing laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Checking and re-stocking consulting rooms
Wound care and dressings unassisted
Flu and Pneumonia vaccinations
B12 injections
Extended skills depending on training e.g. spirometry / performing dopplers/Diabetic checks
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
Assist GP in minor operations which include LARC contraceptive fittings.
Care and maintenance of equipment and treatment rooms.
