As a newly qualified GP within 2 years of qualification, you will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract to include:

  • Face to face consultations
  • Telephone consultations
  • Visiting patients at home and in nursing homes
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required
  • All aspects of clinical administration

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
  • Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • Adhere to practice protocols and policies
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

About us

We are looking for a salaried GP for 4 sessions per week, on duty until 6.30pm with an additional session per week extended hours until 8pm. Please note these sessions may be split across two practices working in the same health centre (Farnworth Family Practice & Figtree Medical Centre)

As the lead employer - Farnworth Family Practice is a training practice consisting of 2 GP partners, 1 salaried GP, 1 GP Trainee, 1 practice nurse, 1 healthcare assistant and administration staff. Our current practice list size is approximately 4300. We are a well performing practice. We are rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Our patient feedback from the national survey is very positive and we score, in the majority, above local and national performance.

We are a member practice of the Farnworth & Kearsley Primary Care Network (PCN) and we have a team of ARRS staff who we have access to, including mental health practitioner, MSK practitioner, GP, paramedic, pharmacists, pharmacy technician and social prescriber link workers.
