We are looking for an individual to join our busy team of receptionist. We are looking for full time or 2 x part time candidates. Must be able to work within our core hours 08.00am - 18.30pm

Main duties of the job

You will be answering the phone , booking appointments, giving out medications. You will be required to display excellent customer service.

RECEPTIONIST - JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: RECEPTIONIST

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

HOURS: 37.5 hours over 5 days, or 2 x 20hrs over 4 days

Job summary:

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

You will be required to work shifts between the hours of 8am and 6.30pm

You will also be required to cover some shifts at our Hellifield Surgery.

Job responsibilities:

Administration

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all practice Reception procedures and a general knowledge of other department roles.
  • To work in accordance of written protocols.
  • Be able to use manual and electronic systems.
Reception Face to Face or via the telephone.

  • Receive patients and all other visitors to the Practice in a professional, welcoming and courteous manner.
  • Consult with members of the practice team and outside agencies.
  • Deal with general enquiries and explain procedures to patients where necessary.
  • Take precise messages and relay to relevant members of staff in a timely manner.
  • Hand completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines, both in person and online.
  • Be able to cover all reception positions as and when necessary.
  • Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.

Appointments

  • Process appointment requests for on the day and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Signpost patients to the appropriate service or person, based both in the surgery and external services.
  • Deal with visit requests and pass on precise details to the visiting clinician.

  • Understand and follow the practices codes and policies, confidentiality and the Information Governance rules of the Practice.
  • In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
