Job summary

ROLE SUMMARY

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Finance Officer and Senior Finance Manager with the implementation and management of all financial controls and procedures, and provide a comprehensive financial management information service. This includes monitoring expenditure and identifying variances to target figures, monitoring funds and bank accounts and overseeing the processing of invoices and expenses.

Main duties of the job

General responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Finance Officer and Senior Finance Manager with the management and coordination all aspects of practice finances. They will have previous experience in accounts and finance. Specific experience of working in primary care finance is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Job responsibilities

Organisational Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Finance Officer when required
  • Maintaining and increasing sources of income analysing and reporting on threats and opportunities
  • Support Finance Officer in preparation of budget

Generate reports for the Partners as required

Support the Finance Officer in preparation of accounts

Submission of claims

Operational Responsibilities

  • Reconcile monthly bank statement to Xero software.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual accounting reports
  • Analyse income generated through practice activity and address inconsistencies.
  • Analyse monthly / quarterly statements and reconcile statements every month
  • The completion and submission of all enhanced service claims, and other local incentive schemes and ad hoc claims
  • Support the Finance Officer to reconcile information of the end of year data for the practice accountants
  • Raising invoices
  • Processing of income and expenditure information
  • Maintaining a robust Record-keeping system
  • Purchase and Sales Ledger processing

  • Support the Finance Officer and Senior Finance Manager as directed
  • Attending to general finance and payroll queries and escalating queries
  • Working with the finance team to organise Finance Sub Committee meetings including agendas, minute taking.
  • Working collaboratively with HR & People team
  • Attending Senior Management Team meetings as and when directed
  • Devise, organise and maintain systems for ensuring adequate stocks of stationary ensuring best value and limiting waste.
  • Order equipment and other items as instructed.
  • Any additional tasks as requested by Partners, Site Manager and Finance Manager.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as require
