Urgent Care Centre Paramedic

Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Paramedic to join our Same Day Access Service team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering prompt clinical assessment and care to patients requiring urgent but not emergency attention.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, manage, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions. This role supports the timely delivery of care and helps optimise the efficiency of the wider healthcare system.

Main duties of the job

Patient Assessment & Care

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments for patients with acute medical needs.
  • Develop and implement appropriate management and treatment plans within your scope of practice.
  • Prioritise patient care based on clinical urgency

Coordination & Referral

Collaborate with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.

  • Refer patients to appropriate services, specialists, or emergency departments based on clinical need and service pathways.

Patient Education & Support

  • Educate patients and families on managing health conditions at home.
  • Offer guidance on lifestyle, medications, and signs that require further medical review.

Documentation & Record-Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Record all patient interactions using the appropriate clinical systems.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with colleagues to design and deliver effective care plans
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, carers, and team members to support safe, high-quality care.

Professional Development

  • Participate in ongoing training and reflective learning.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical guidelines, protocols, and innovations in urgent care.

HCPC-registered Paramedic.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Familiar with EMIS clinical system.

Confident in the use of digital tools such as Accurx and Docman.

Desirable

Prior experience in a Same Day Access or Urgent Care Service..

Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MSc Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent).

Level 7 Minor Illness/Injury qualification.

Certification in ALS, PALS, or other relevant clinical courses.
