Goodinge Group Practice Profile
Background
The Goodinge Group Practice is a long-established GP
practice situated in the north London borough of Islington, a five minute walk
from Caledonian Road tube station on the Piccadilly line and a 10 minute walk
from Kentish Town tube station on the northern line. The practice is located in a two-storey
purpose-built health centre, which is owned by The Whittington Hospital and
also provides a base for community staff, such as district nurses and health
visitors.
There are approximately 12,000 patients registered
with the Goodinge Practice.
The Practice is a member of the NCL Clinical
Commissioning Group (CCG) and of the Islington GP Federation, which is a GP
provider organisation, which means that the practice is well informed about
developments in the local health economy.
The
Practice Philosophy
The Goodinge Group Practice puts patient care at the
heart of what it does and maintains the values of teamwork, professionalism and
compassion in providing traditional family medicine to the local
community. The practice is a GP training
practice with two GP trainers. We also provide supervision and training for
clinical and non-clinical staff members.
The Partnership are keen to develop the practice and
innovate to meet the growing challenges of the NHS. We have a medicines
management team and structured administrative team. The practice is also part of the organisation
WISH, which provides GPs to the UCC at the Whittington and works closely with
the Islington Federation.
The practice aspires to provide high standards of
medical care within the resources available and the
most recent CQC (Care Quality Commission) inspection was an overall rating of Good.
The
practice achieves high targets in QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and
participates in most national and local enhanced services.
The Patients
The practices patients reflect the changing
demographics of the area which continues to undergo regeneration though remains
a population of mixed socio-economic status and ethnicities. Patient
satisfaction is good and the practice scores well on the national GP survey and
above average in many areas (https://www.gp-patient.co.uk/report?practicecode=F83008).
There is an active Patient Participation Group (PPG)
which meets regularly.
The practice
is open from 8.00am-6.30pm from Monday to Friday and are offering patient choice for face to face and telephone
appointments, as well as triage of online requests to the most appropriate team.
