GP Surgery in a semi rural area close to Reading seeks a Dispenser to work as part of a Team.
Attractive location, 45 minutes from London, Oxford and the South Coast, with excellent relations with secondary care and community supporting services
High QOF achieving practice covering 11500 patients on one site
8 GPs, 4 practice nurses and 2 HCA/Phlebotomist

Main duties of the job
Process NOMAD trays
Printing prescriptions from all sources to ensure process completed in 48 hours
Dispense repeat and acute prescriptions to dispensing patients
Ensure no item leaves Dispensary without a prescription being produced.
Monitor and apply prescription charges and exemptions.
Liaise with local chemists.
Keep Controlled Drugs register according to guidelines.
Help ensure a check is made once weekly for stock and out of date drugs. Replace items accordingly.
Assist in ordering stock, stock control, recording stock outdates and performing annual stoke take.
Allow a confidential service to be provided to patients at all times.
Assist in answering telephone and other queries from patients regarding dispensing issues.
Help ensure staff working hours allow dispensary to be open as agreed with the Partners.
Help ensure good dispensing practice is kept at all times when working in dispensary. Be familiar with protocols.
Maintain and develop IT skills as required by the Practice.
Help ensure complaints/errors procedures are adhered to.
Up to 2 working days a year may be spent on professional training outside the surgery at the cost of the surgery following discussion.
Provide holiday/sickness cover whenever possible.
Assist the Dispensary Manager in drug company liaison, monitoring discounts, monitoring Drug Tariff changes, monitoring drug expenditure.
Assist in completing month end procedures for PPA.

The post holder is required to take reasonable care of his/her own health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by his/her own acts or omissions.
To assist Mortimer Surgery in reducing healthcare associated infections and maintaining high levels of infection control you should be familiar with the surgerys IPC policy.
You must either complete online mandatory training or attend the in house annual IPC update.
You must be compliant with all standards relevant to your department at all times.
You are responsible for keeping your work area clean and tidy.
