Job summary
We are seeking two part-time GP Practice Administrators/Typists to join our friendly administrative teamat our established GP Practice.
Due to the retirement of a longstanding team member, we are reviewing and modernising this post to reflect the evolving needs of the practice. The role combines essential administrative and typing duties with a strong emphasis on managing GP referrals, liaising with patients and secondary care, and supporting clinical colleagues with accurate, timely documentation.
This is a key position within the admin team, suited to individuals who are organised, attentive to detail, and confident in working with digital systems and patient information in a busy environment.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking two part-time GP Practice Administrators/Typists to support our clinical team with a range of important administrative duties.
The role involves managing GP referrals through the NHS e-Referral Service (ERS) and TPP SystmOne, preparing and formatting medical documentation such as reports and letters, monitoring and handling referral rejections, liaising with hospital secretaries/booking clerks as needed, and occasionally assisting patients with referral related enqurieis.
You will also assist with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) administration, including tasks relating to new patient registrations and deductions for departing patients.
This is a key role within our admin team, suited to someone who is organised, reliable, IT-confident, possesses good English/Literacy skills and is comfortable working both independently and alongside others. Previous experience in a healthcare or GP setting is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Create, format, and finalise various medical reports based on GP-written tasks. While these are not dictated in the traditional sense, the information is provided in draft form and must be transcribed onto professional, headed templates and formatted appropriately.

Handle referral rejections from ERS, resolve issues and reprocess when needed.

Communicate with hospital secretaries and booking clerks to chase appointments, clarify referrals, and resolve external queries.
