Trinity Court Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a GP to join a friendly, innovative practice in Stratford-Upon-Avon. We are looking for a good team player, with enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference in General Practice, ideally from September, 5 or 6 sessions per week. The role is maternity cover starting Mid April 2026. We have a highly skilled clinical team and currently operate with 5 experienced GP Partners, 1 Nurse Partner Salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Clinical Pharmacists, as well as a variety of PCN staff. We are an approved GP training practice,

About us

Trinity Court Surgery currently has a list size of over 21,400 patients . We are active members of Stratford central PCN. The practice is hosted in purpose- built modern premises in central Stratford-Upon-Avon as well as a second site with a dispensary in rural Warwickshire (Claverdon). Both sites have free parking. We use EMIS and Docman clinical systems. As a practice we embrace new technology and are open to new opportunities and ways of working. Many of our GPs have a special interest, and we are keen to develop skills and ideas that a new GP may bring.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make them-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, medical reports and other correspondence in a timely fashion
  • To undertake a proportional amount of duty doctor and extended hours cover
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • Providing active input to the wider Primary healthcare team in the process of health needs research/base line data collection/clinical audit.
  • Taking on a share of clinical and administrative workload when covering for any absences (planned and unplanned).
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care and adhere to the job plan.

Other responsibilities within the organisation:

  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
  • Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
  • Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data
  • Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
  • You are invited to attend and participate in regular practice meetings, including meetings related to educational and clinical governance and you may on occasion be invited to Partners meetings on relevant business matters.
