Job summary
We are seeking a proactive and confident Paramedic Practitioner to join our clinical team, providing high quality assessments, clinical decision making and management of a range of presentations in Primary Care.
The role covers Tuesday - Friday weekly working alongside our team of GPs and exciting Paramedic Practitioner, alongside the wider clinical team.
You will play a key role in providing urgent same day care to our patients across both sites with access to ongoing support, professional development and regular clinical supervision.
Main duties of the job
- Assess and triage patients, including same day triage, and as appropriate provide diagnosis, support and definitive treatment (including prescribing medications following policy, patient group directives, NICE (national) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways within the scope of your knowledge and qualifications) and make necessary referrals to other members of the primary care team
- Perform specialist health checks and reviews in line with local and national guidance
- Use advanced clinical decision making skills to provide evidence based care
- Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate
- Provide home visits when required
- Escalate or refer to GPs or secondary care when required
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) within the organisation
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with Practice polkicies
- Contribute to Practice audits, quality improvemetn and service development
About us
Runnymede Medical Practice cares for 12,000 patients across two sites spanning the Berkshire / Surrey boarder. One site is located in Old Windsor and the other in Englefield Green. We are part of the Windsor Primary Care Network (PCN).
We are a fully accredited training Practice and fully support the ongoing professional development of all of our staff.
Our clinical team consists of 4 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 Paramedic Practitioner, 2 Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate, 1 Healthcare Assistant and 1 Phlebotomist. We work closely with our PCN and have other clinical staff working within the Practice on a weekly basis. The clinical team is supported by a strong friendly administrative team.

Paramedics work independently within their scope of practice in the community, using their enhanced clinical assessment and treatment skills to assess and manage patients presenting with acute presentations which include minor illness or injury, abdominal pains, chestpainsand headaches.

- Communicate at all levels acrossorganisationsensuring that an effective, person-centredservice is delivered

- Attend a formal appraisal with your manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/trainingobjectivehas been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that newobjectivescan be agreed

- Completed their two-year Consolidation of Learning period when a newly qualified paramedic
- Completed a further three years experience as a band 6 (or equivalent) paramedic
