After successfully expanding our nursing and advanced clinical workforce our Practice Nurse Lead is looking to continue to develop and strengthen her team. Nurses and allied health professionals have a strong voice in our Practice, and we have seen huge growth in our clinical teams over the last few years.

Some past experience in the caring profession is essential with NVQ 3 being desirable.

Our HCAs deliver a high level of care and are supported to continuously develop in line with the RCGP HCA (General Practice) Competency Framework.

This post is a permanent contract on 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will offer general assistance to the Practice clinical team, liaising closely with the Practice Nurse Lead.

The HCA will be involved primarily in:

- Assisting in the provision of a phlebotomy service

- The management of laboratory samples for the Practice

- Undertaking well person checks

- Urinalysis

- ECG recording

- Chaperoning patients

- Cleaning and sterilising instruments and equipment

- Maintenance of equipment, including keeping records of when external checks are due, e.g. calibration

- The daily recording of refrigerator temperatures

- Ordering of stock and re-stocking clinical rooms

- Simple dressings

The HCA will also be responsible for:

- Documenting patient consultations in the clinical system

- Maintaining appropriate records to ensure continuity and quality of care for patients

- Involvement in Practice development, identifying service changes and in line with clinical needs locally

- Maintaining records of appointments, financial transactions, and other administrative duties

- Maintaining skills at the current level and undertaking such training and development as required to maintain personal competency

- Participation in all activities required by CQC registration
