The Nursing Associate will be a key member of the
multidisciplinary team within the GP Practice, delivering high-quality,
person-centred care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse
and/or GP.
The role bridges the gap between a Healthcare Assistant and
a Registered Nurse, contributing to clinical care, health promotion, chronic
disease management, immunisation programmes, and practice-wide quality
improvement initiatives. The Nursing Associate works within their scope of
practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.

The Nursing Associate will:
- Undertake and record clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, BMI and urinalysis.
- Perform venepuncture, capillary blood sampling and other diagnostic procedures.
- Carry out ECGs.
- Deliver wound care including dressings, suture removal and basic wound assessment.
- Administer injections as delegated and within scope of practice.
- Support chronic disease monitoring (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension) under supervision.
- Support patients with long-term conditions, including those with complex needs such as dementia and mental health conditions.
- Carry out cervical cytology (if trained and competent).
- Administer vaccinations and immunisations under Patient Group Directions (PGDs) or Patient Specific Directions (PSDs), including childhood immunisations (if appropriately trained and assessed as competent).
- Undertake home visits for housebound patients for annual reviews, vaccinations and monitoring as delegated.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients or safeguarding concerns.
