Main duties of the job
To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of
medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard
of clinical care ahering to the GMC standards for good medical practice,
contributing to the effective management of the practice and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the
multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Diagnosing and treating patients - Managing a wide range of health needs, providing an excellent standard of clinical care to registered and temporary patients.
- Consultations - Undertaking surgery consultations and addressing patient queries.
- On Call - On a rotational basis, undertake duty doctor role.
- Home visits - Performing home visits as needed, when home visiting service is not available or appropriate for the patient need
- Prescribing - Prescribing medication in line with practice policies, local guidelines, and the NHS formulary.
- Managing long - term conditions - Active management of long -term conditions using local and national guidelines developing care plans for patients with chronic conditions e.g. asthma, diabetes, heart failure etc
- Referrals - Making appropriate and timely referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers.
- Health promotion - Providing counselling and health education to patients and participating in targeted health promotion activities.
Administrative Duties
- Maintaining patient records - Recording clear, contemporaneous, and accurate consultation notes using Ardens Templates and Read coding, and updating clinical databases with relevant information (e.g., for the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)).
- Processing administration - Handling referrals, lab reports, repeat prescription requests, and other associated administrative tasks in a timely manner.
- Correspondence - Timely assessment and actioning of incoming electronic and paper correspondence.
- Reports - Completing insurance, DSS, and other reports relating to patients.
Organisational Responsibilities
- Compliance - Adhering to clinical guidelines, practice policies, and GMC standards.
- Teamwork - Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and contributing to practice meetings.
- Quality improvement - Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Training and development - Engaging in the appraisal process, revalidation, and professional development.
- Practice development - Contributing to the practice's development, including clinical governance and training.
- Participating in practice audits.

Qualifications
Essential
- Medical degree
- Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners or equivalent in training if approved by the Royal College of General Practitioners
- Certificate of MRCGP
- Registered GP with the GMC included on the GP Register
- Included on GP Performers List
- Possesses the right to work in the UK
- Certificate of satisfactory immune status re Hepatitis B and other relevant viruses
- Current General Practice experience with up to date GMC appraisal and revalidation
