Job summary

We are looking for a Receptionist to work 35 hours per week in our busy GP surgery. Flexibility is necessary to help cover extra hours for sickness and annual leave. The Surgery opening hours are 08.00 - 20.00 on a Monday and 08.00 - 18.30pm Tuesday - Friday.

The hours of work are (HOURS UPDATED 11/2/26) Monday 07.50am - 13.00pm, Tuesday 07.50 - 18.30pm, Wednesday 07.50am - 1.00pm, Thursday 12.00 - 18.30pm and Friday 07.50 - 5.00pm.

The job will entail contributing to the day to day running of reception, opening the building first thing in a morning and locking up at the end of the day, booking appointments for patients both face to face and over the telephone, dealing with patient queries, again both face to face and over the telephone, processing repeat prescriptions, scanning of incoming documents and dealing with them as necessary, registration of new patients, deal with incoming and outgoing mail plus other necessary admin work.

Maintaining confidentiality at all times is an absolute must.

You will liaise with both internal and external Healthcare Professionals.

Main duties of the job

Booking Appointments

Dealing with queries

Processing Prescriptions

Registering new patients

Scanning documents and processing as necessary

Arrange home visits

Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail

Covering extra hours for sickness and annual leave

About us

We are located on the edge of Mansfield Town Centre. We are a a very friendly team who have worked together for a long time. We consist of 4 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate, 1 Health Care Assistant, 2 Phlebotomists, 2 Medical Secretaries, 2 Coders, 1 Reception Manager and 6 Receptionists. We are a training Practice so regularly have trainee GPs on placement with us.

Millview Surgery is a 2 storey building and you will be expected to work across both floors. We do not have lift access to the upper floor, you will therefore access the upper floor using stairs.
