Job summary

The Mission Practice in Tower Hamlets is looking to appoint a Salaried GP for 6 clinical sessions.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic committed GP to join our friendly and supportive practice.

We are looking for an applicant who will help maintain our high standards of clinical care with a strong patient centred focus in a highly supportive environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care for all patients, dealing with a wide range of presenting health needs in a general practice setting.

This will be for 6 clinical sessions per week and we are open to discussing flexible working

You will have an additional half a session paid protected time for weekly practice and MDT meetings and paid indemnity. You will also join daily huddles with your colleagues with opportunities to discuss cases and referrals as a team.

About us

The Mission Practice is a surgery serving approx 12,500 patients in E2. We have a passion for whole person care, reflected in our diverse staff mix which includes, social prescribers, pharmacists, chaplaincy, nursing and HCA teams, an ACP and a GPA. We strive to tackle health inequalities and are concerned that we particularly care well for our most vulnerable patients, including asylum seekers and those with co-morbid mental health, substance misuse and social challenges. We are passionate about valuing every member of the team and caring well for each other in this challenging work, this is reflected in our weekly lunches together on a Thursday and whole practice weekly meetings where we can share the joys and challenges together. We seek to provide and evidence excellent quality care amidst the challenges in the current climate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Key clinical responsibilities:

  • Patient consultations (in person, video calls, telephone calls, home visits)
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions / queries
  • Checking patient medical test results and actioning as appropriate
  • Completing patient medical reports and examinations as required
  • All other supporting paperwork and related administrative work o Attending any emergencies in the practice
  • Supporting other practice clinicians in their queries
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems (self-referred by the patient or referred by others in the practice)
  • Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Managing patients with long term conditions and developing care plans o Referring to other case providers as appropriate
  • Audits of patient care and outcomes o Prepared to represent the practice in PCN or other local meetings if required
  • Prescribing (both acute and repeat) in accordance with local and national guidelines
  • Ensure that your work is recorded and auditable
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous notes to professional standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes / complying with national requirements
  • Working with the Practice Management team to ensure patient data is accurate and up to date on the clinical system
  • Using our relevant IT systems including EMIS Web in all cases where possible
  • Balance patient care and time management effectively to Ensure the service runs efficiently and effectively
