About us
The Practice Nurse will work closely with our Advanced Nurse Practitioner, GP's and GP Partner. Our team also includes, Paediatric ANP, Clinical Pharmacist, Reception team, Admin team and Prescription Clerks as well as the Practice Manager and Deputy Practice Manager.

Job Title: Practice
Nurse
Reporting to: ANP and Practice Manager
Role summary: To provide nursing service as part of a primary
care team within a general practice setting including treatment, chronic
disease management, screening and health promotion and education.
The following list serves to illustrate the scope
and responsibilities of the post and is not intended to be an exhaustive list
of duties. You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by
the development of this role as the practice develops, and the overall business
objectives of the practice change.
Main Duties
and Responsibilities
Nursing duties appropriate to general
practice setting e.g. venepuncture, urinalysis, recording blood pressure,
spirometry, injections, new patient medicals, health education e.g. smoking,
diet.
Duties related to screening e.g.
cervical smears.
Participation in chronic disease
management e.g. diabetes, asthma, hypertension according to agreed practice
guidelines and according to training and competence.
Family planning services to agreed
guidelines e.g. contraceptive advice, follow-up of oral contraception,
administration of injectable contraception.
Involve patients in decision making
about treatments/lifestyle changes etc.
Maintain adequate supplies and
equipment in the clinical rooms including checking emergency equipment. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in
the nursing areas.
Ensure that infection control
procedures are followed.
Maintain good records including
computerised patient records.
The inputting of information onto the
Practice clinical system and following coding protocols.
Provision of travel advice and
vaccinations.
Child Immunisations and Baby Checks
Attend and participate in educational
meetings within the practice.
Be involved in improving nursing
services and patient care and introducing new ideas.
Participate in audit including data
collection and analysis.
To engage in QOF and work to improve
Quality outcomes.

Using appropriate infection control
procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
Reporting potential risks identified
Act as Chaperone when requested by
clinician and in accordance with the Chaperone policy.
