We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. As a growing practice caring for approximately 6,000 patients, we have recently moved into brand new, purpose built premises that provides excellent facilities and an enhanced environment for delivering high quality care.

Main duties of the job

Our Practice Nurses are responsible for delivering high quality clinical care and health promotion services within our Practice, including treatment room procedures such as wound care, suture and staple removal, venepuncture, ECGs, observations, near patient testing, and specimen preparation. The role includes providing baby, child and adult immunisations, cervical cytology, travel health advice and vaccinations, administering injections under PGDs/PSDs, and undertaking annual reviews for patients with long term conditions. Practice Nurses support preventive care through health promotion activities such as smoking cessation, alcohol screening, weight management and lifestyle advice, while maintaining accurate clinical records, adhering to infection prevention and control standards, and completing emergency equipment checks. They are also responsible for effective stock and equipment management, including dressings, vaccines, injectable medications, fridge monitoring and for actioning relevant clinical tasks within the clinical system.

Primary Responsibilities

The Practice Nurse is responsible for delivering the following core clinical services:

Treatment Room Services

Wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures, clips and staples

Taking, preparing and sending clinical swabs (wound, MRSA, vaginal)

Venepuncture and phlebotomy

ECG recording

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring

Manual observations (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate)

Height and weight measurements

Near patient testing (e.g. glucose, INR)

Urinalysis and specimen preparation

Doppler ultrasound measurements

Compression stocking reviews and leg measurements

Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections under PSD (e.g. B12, hormone injections)

Immunisations & Screening

Baby, child and adult immunisations under PGDs

Cervical cytology

Pretravel health advice and vaccination recommendations

Administration of travel vaccinations

Health Promotion

Smoking cessation

Alcohol screening
