Job summary

We are looking to recruit an experienced part time Medical Coder, for 12 hours per week. Applicants need to demonstrate a professional and friendly manner along with medical terminology knowledge for coding clinical and non-clinical letters onto patient's records.

Applicants will need to have a good attention to detail and work with a high level of accuracy. Experiencing of medical coding or summarising is essential.

Main duties of the job

Applicants will be the initial point of contact from secondary care, external organisations and new patients at the practice for clinicians, other clinical and non-clinical staff. The role will encompass sorting through documentation requiring coding, coding clinical and non-clinical letters into EMIS web, as well as processing any actions from clinical letters and other communications.

About us

We are a 2 Partner GP practice across 3 sites, providing care to approximately 10000 patients. The Practice is also a member of Cannock Villages PCN.

We have a dedicated team of 2 GP Partners, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 3 HCAs and also support from variety of PCN ARRS staff. We are also a training practice with GP registrars and medical students.

All clinical services are supported by a strong administration and reception team.

- Summarizing medical records accurately and efficiently.

- Assigning appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures.

- Ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.

- Analyse patient records and record all the relevant information.

- Examining records and documentation for missing information

- Uphold patient confidentiality
