Job summary

Hours 16-28 hours per week (Negotiable)

We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Receptionists, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our busy & friendly team.

You will be the first point of contact to the surgery and provide support to patients, either in person or via the telephone and will be an excellent team player and empathetic to the needs of patients.

Main duties of the job

- Dealing with patient enquiries, both in person and over the phone

- Booking appointments

- Assisting patients with online access

- Directing and signposting patients to the relevant clinician/service

- Dealing with prescriptions and referral queries

- Assisting the non-clinical team in administrative duties

About us

We have a patient list size of just under 8,000 with 4 GP Partners and a team of friendly and dedicated staff.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and telephone callers, to provide a friendly, helpful and efficient service.

  • Greet and deal with patients on reception and on the telephone in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Make, change, cancel patient appointments whether on the telephone, in person or via the website or app.
  • Respond to all queries and where necessary direct to the appropriate person.
  • Use care navigation to direct patients to the most appropriate clinician or service.
  • Explain procedure for registration at the practice to new and temporary patients and put them on the clinical system.
  • Advise and sign-up patients to the practice online access.
  • Deal with requests for repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
  • Use Accurx to contact patients as required.
  • Check practice website dashboard and deal with correspondence as appropriate.
  • Complete DOCMAN and EMIS tasks as requested.
  • Enter patient information on computer system as required.
  • Chase up results, appointments, reports etc
