Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, reliable, highly motivated receptionist/telephonist to join our existing team of 25 administration staff, who currently operate across four practices; Buckshaw Village Surgery (List 10,500), Eaves Lane Surgery (List 2,100), Adlington Medical Centre (List 1,900), Medicare Unit Surgery (List 2,600) and a Branch surgery operated from the Oakbridge Retirement Village. We work closely with neighbouring practices as part of a collaborative group to develop innovative primary care service to patient population in excess of 30,000.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Working hours will be either Monday - Friday 8am-1:15pm / Monday -Friday 1:15pm-6:30pm

Be flexible in approach, you will be able to work across the organisation, adapting to different sites and demands.

Be professional at all times with a kind and caring disposition that satisfies the needs of our patient cohort.

Be able to respond to the various demands and challenging circumstances of general practice.

Have a good secondary education.

Have experience of working directly with members of the public, possibly in an NHS environment.

Have experience of working in a busy office environment, answering telephone calls and being part of a successful team.

Have good IT skills, possibly with experience of clinical software such as EMIS Web.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 7th June.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Job Responsibilities:

Administration

1 To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.

2 To work in accordance of written protocols.

3 Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and update when required.

4 Scanning/Filing post in medical records.

5 Fax and photocopy as requested.

Reception

6 Receiving patients consulting with members of practice team.

7 Handing prescriptions requests via telephone and with patients.

8 Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary.

Appointments

9 Process appointment requests for today, and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.

10 Deal with visits requests.

Computer

11 Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records.

12 Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area.)

13 Process repeat prescription request in accordance with practice guidelines.

Telephone

14 Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep system, during and after hours.

Other Tasks

16 Clear rooms after surgeries.

17 Ensure building security.

18 Summarising of medical notes onto computer system.
