Job summary

Buckshaw Village Surgery Group have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to lead our growing administrative and clinical team. The successful applicant will be a key member of the management team, working closely with the existing Practice Manager, Finance Manager and Practice Co-Ordinators, playing a vital role to ensure smooth and efficient running of the Practice.

This is a full-time role consisting of 37.5 hours per week, however part time working would be considered  – four days a week would be feasible. You will be required to work across our sites.

Main duties of the job

You will be a senior non-clinical manager, responsible for all aspects of the Practice business and service delivery. You will provide leadership and organisation management skills to enable the Practice to meet its agreed aims and objectives within an efficient, safe, effective, and profitable working environment. You will help develop the Practice to meet future business needs and respond to changes in the environment.

About us

We comprise of 6 surgeries with our own Primary Care Network Status; Buckshaw Village Surgery, Eaves Lane Surgery, Adlington Medical Centre, Croston Medical Centre, The Village Surgery at Lostock Hall and Medicare Unit. Our total patient list size is combined at 23,000 and is growing rapidly.

We currently employ a total of 60 members of staff; we take pride in working together to deliver the best care for our patients.

We were rated Good in all areas at our last CQC inspection. The practice is constantly evolving to take advantage of the opportunities arising in the ever-changing NHS, and to find new and better ways of working.

Job responsibilities

Main duties:

- Oversee the day-to-day running of the services, providing operational supervision to the administrative and reception team, and be the first point of contact for the Practice Co-ordinators. To help provide visible management and leadership for the Practice.

- Assist with recruitment and retention of staff, monitor skill-mix and manage staffing levels and training. Manage Practice staff in accordance with employment laws and business policies.

- Develop and manage patient services, ensuring the Practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care. Ensure the Practice is fully compliant with its responsibilities relating to all appropriate frameworks.

- Responsibility for routine maintenance of buildings and equipment to ensure the premises are maintained to a high standard in order to comply with relevant legislation and facilitate patient care.

- Assist the existing Practice Manager and Finance Manager to maximise Practice income through Enhanced Services/PPA/Prevalence/QOF achievement.
