Job summary

We are looking friendly and motivated person to join our team as a receptionist/administrator at our busy GP practice in Tyldesley.

We have a welcoming and supportive team of clinicians and admin staff with a low staff turnover. 

The ideal candidate should have previous experience of working in a GP practice or similar environment. They will fit into to the existing reception team and support the clinicians and colleagues. 

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role will include:

  • Dealing with patients, in person, over the phone and via online services
  • Prescription requests and queries
  • Appointment booking
  • Liaising with hospitals and community services 
  • Inviting patients for reviews, screening, health checks
  • Typing referral letters
  • General office duties
It is a varied and sometimes challenging role where two days are never the same, but for the right candidate the role can be very rewarding as you engage with the patients and help them with their healthcare queries and needs.

About us

Our practice team is made up of three GP's, a practice nurse, an assistant practitioner, Practice Manager and five receptionists.

The practice also provides clinical space to additional roles within our PCN, we currently have a Mental Health Practitioner, a clinical pharmacist, paramedic, care coordinator, and an MSK practitioner seeing our patients and patients from other surgeries within our PCN. We also have a community link worker and a CBT therapist in the practice every Wednesday.

We use EMIS clinical system, along with Docman and AskMyGP

The reception team all work to a fixed weekly rota, there are opportunities for overtime to cover holidays and sickness.

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, patient registration, booking appointments, processing of information (electronic and hard copy) and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
