Job summary
To work without direct
supervision and support the clinical team in the delivery of clinical
services. Work as part of the practice
multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the
entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of
treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education
Main duties of the job
Provide
phlebotomy
Under
take various health checks - to
include NHS Health Checks, Pre-Diabetes Learning Disability, SMI etc
Carry out baseline
observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI,
temperature, urinalysis etc
Chronic
disease management, including diabetic foot checks
Administer
vaccines flu, pneumococcal, shingles, B12
Carry
out ear irrigation
Undertake
wound care & dressings
Suture/Staple
removal
Carry
out ECG testing
Minor
operation set up/assistance
Assist in the call
and recall systems in relation to: chronic disease management; immunisation,
cervical cytology screening etc
Deliver
opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
Domiciliary
service to patients
Support
the Practice with health promotion programmes
Act as a
chaperone when required
Assist
in audits as required
Stock
checks & ensuring adequate supply of materials
Ensure all clinical
rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
Carry out relevant
clerical duties as required in relation to the role

GP Partners & Practice Manager
Be
aware of statutory national requirements relevant to the job function (e.g.
Health and Safety at Work Act)
Ensure
working areas are kept neat and tidy
