Job summary

We are a forward thinking busy GP Surgery in South Birmingham based in a recently refurbished premises.

We have a team of varied clinicians including Physician Associates and GP Registrars, we are a friendly but professional team.

Excellent administrative and managerial support.

Main duties of the job

Duties and responsibilities:

  • New Patient health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Phlebotomy
  • Re-dressing of wounds/post op wounds etc
  • Processing and management of lab samples
  • Vaccine/cold chain, storage, monitoring and recording
  • Stock rotation
  • Re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well- being
  • Helping raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • Whilst in post, Staff are expected to acquire and update their knowledge on safeguarding as per the Intercollegiate document requirements. Training must include knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberties

Job Summary:

Working strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • New Patient health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Phlebotomy
  • Re-dressing of wounds/post op wounds etc
  • Spirometry
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Processing and management of lab samples requested by GPs/nurses
  • Vaccine/cold chain, storage, monitoring and recording
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
