Job summary
We are looking for a qualified Practice nurse to join our nursing team either part or full time between the hours on 8am - 6:30pm Monday - Friday.
The Practice Nurse supports the GPs in the provision
of nursing services to patients of the Practice, including treatment, screening
and advice within the professional competence of the post holder, working in
accordance with the UKCC code of conduct. The Practice Nursing team is
responsible for ensuring that relevant contractual targets are met in the
management of patients with chronic diseases.
Main duties of the job
MAIN
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Working to clinical guidelines in a safe and proper
manner, the Practice Nurse will:
Assist and perform routine tasks related to
patient care as directed by senior practice nursing staff, business
manager or partners, including: Conductnew patient medicals/urinalysis, Conduct routine diagnostic procedures (e.g. ECGs, spirometry, peak flow etc). Conduct routine adult immunisations/vaccinations. Conduct routine childhood immunisations/vaccinations. Conduct routine chronic disease reviews (including home
visits).Provide travel immunisations and health advice. Conduct cytology screening (female nurses only). Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate when
they are being examined by another clinician. Request pathology tests (e.g. urine culture, blood
tests, swabs), Provide first aid/CPR for patients and staff, Deliver health promotion clinics, as required. Ensure nurses rooms are adequately stocked. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of
nurses and treatment rooms used. Ensure that all equipment used is regularly
maintained, calibrated and cleaned.

We are a large practice with 13,000 + patients. We have 3 GP Partners, 1 Nurse Partner, 3 Salaried GP's, 3 ANP's, 4 Practice nurses (one retiring hence the position becoming available), 2 Clinical Pharmacists, 1 Pharmacy Technician and 2 HCA's.
