Job summary

Newsome Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic, patient focused and independently motivated Registered Nurse to join our friendly team.

You will be an experienced Primary Care Practice Nurse who is comfortable working independently but under the leadership of our GP Partners, supporting with all aspects of nursing care and improving on the safety and quality of patient care at every opportunity.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about directly improving patient care and delivering high quality care to a wide range of patients.

You should be patient-focused, independently motivated, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

You will ideally be an experienced Primary Care Practice Nurse; however, a Practice Nurse from secondary care with the right skills, motivation, drive and willingness to learn and develop would be considered.

Main duties of the job

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

Main duties of the role will include but not be limited to;

- Assisting and performing routine nursing tasks related to patient care.

- Support patients to improve and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and wellbeing by using behaviour change interventions.

- To undertake adult and child NHS immunisation programmes and cervical screening.

- To be competent in venepuncture, ECGs and other diagnostic tests.

- To be competent in wound care management.

- To lead and support on chronic disease management.

- To provide general health promotion.

- Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.

- To be able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (BLS) and the correct use of Automated Defibrillator following training, according to the current UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.

- To participate in developments within the practice / network and support QOF / DES requirements.

Health & Safety

The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotions. They will manage their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, the practice Health & Safety manual, the practice Infection Control policy and other published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
  • Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines
  • Responsible for the correct and safe management of the specimens process including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage and transport arrangements
  • Management and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the practice including provision, ordering, availability and ongoing correct usage by staff
