Thurleigh Road Practice is a well-established and popular GP practice working from modern purpose-built premises. It is situated in a pleasant residential area between Wandsworth and Clapham Common.
Our 13,300 patients are supported by a growing multi-disciplinary team. As a teaching practice, we have a proven track record of supporting and developing our team of staff. This role will work closely with our nursing team consisting of Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and a Health Care Assistant.

JOB SUMMARY
The post
holder will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to
the whole clinical team, and the nursing team in
particular, to promote and maintain the highest standard of care for patients. The post holder will carry out agreed duties
supervised by the Nurse Practitioner, ensuring that she/he does not carry out
any duty or task for which she/he does not possess the necessary knowledge
and/or skill.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
CLINICAL
To work under indirect supervision of
the nursing team carrying out agreed procedures which include but are not
exhaustive:
Blood
pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight, venepuncture,
urinalysis, ECG, peak flow readings, inhaler technique, spirometry, assisting
with NHS Health Checks assisting with care plans pre-assessments, assist with
simple dressings, B12 injections.
To
give flu injections to the over 60s only, with practice nurse supervision.
Assist at coil fitting clinics and
minor surgery clinics. And ensuring patients booked in receive prior
information.
To
be responsible for checking daily that the Practice emergency equipment is in
full working order and correctly stored.
ADMINISTRATION
To
process all smear results and deal with recall system Open Exeter.
To
ensure all medical equipment is in full working order, organising servicing and
replacement equipment as appropriate, liaising with the Clinical Administrator
where necessary.
To
be responsible for checking that medical waste disposal is being carried out
correctly in accordance with Practice Health & Safety protocols and that
there are adequate supplies of sharps bins and yellow waste sacks.
To
be responsible for checking on a weekly basis that all consulting rooms are
fully stocked with relevant equipment, and redistribute as necessary.
To
liaise with Finance Administrator to ensure appropriate stock level of coil
fitting instruments and be responsible for their safe and tidy storage.
To be responsible for ensuring no
out-of-date clinical stock is being used anywhere in the Practice.
