Job summary
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to the practice population.
We are ideally looking for a lead nurse, but are also open to anyone more junior but flexible and willing to learn. You will be supported by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Manager and GP Partner.
As the lead for the nursing team the post holder is accountable for nursing service delivery.
They will lead all the nursing resource, working closely with the practice manager and GPs to deliver the practice priorities.
Clinically the focus of the nurse lead role is to deliver evidence based practice for patients with acute and chronic conditions, with management and preventative nursing interventions to all patients.
Working collaboratively with the whole general practice team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting deliver and procedures and providing leadership and direction for the nursing team

Main duties of the job
- To
provide clinical leadership within the nursing team which enables the team
to deliver a safe and effective level of patient care as part of a
multi-professional team.
- To
work with the practice manager and partners to develop nursing services
offered by the practice.
- Lead in ordering medical stock and flu vaccines for the practice

Clinical Practice
The post-holder will be
expected to:

Offer a holistic
approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior
to travel.

Offer advice
about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered
under patient group directions.

Run well-person
clinics and health promotion programmes. Provide a holistic assessment of the
patient and give lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and
exercise, which will be able to facilitate change.

Assess problems
presented both opportunistically and in clinic times by patients, being able to
offer solutions to minor illnesses.

document consultations according to NMC guidelines.

Ensure awareness
of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral.

recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.

Perform a
holistic assessment of patients attending for ear irrigation, cervical cytology
smear tests and wound management. Implement wound care in line with current
