Job summary

Urban Village Medical Practice is looking to recruit 2 salaried GP's to cover maternity leave.

Post one 6 sessions (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) from October

Post two 4 sessions (Wednesday and Friday) from Mid December

We are a dynamic and supportive practice located in Ancoats/City Centre Manchester. Newly qualified GPs are welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The locum GP will be a key member of the team and the job plan will involve a variety of duties:

-Surgery consultations, these will be undertaken using a variety of methods/applications (telephone, video, face-to-face)

- Home visits including supporting palliative patients

- taking part in the on call rota and staying at least one day per week until 18.30

- Checking and signing repeat prescriptions

- Dealing with general queries

- Dealing with paperwork and correspondence

The locum GP will need to have:-

- Good organisational skills and be methodical in their approach to work given the complexities in primary care

- Excellent communication skills, clear and effective

- Good time management skills

- Ability to work under pressure

- Initiative to work on their own

- Good IT skills

- Committed to providing quality and patient satisfaction

- Team worker

- Good sense of humourThere will be need for some flexibility on days/session times as the GP contract requirements dictate. There may also be additional sessions available to cover holidays/sickness

About us

We are a friendly, City Centre GMS practice with 13,600 patients and a unique Homeless Healthcare Service providing proportionate care to those in the city centre experiencing homlessness . We have strong clinical and admin teams. The established team comprises of:-

3 GP partners

10 salaried doctors

2 practice nurses

3 Homelessness Specialist nurses

1 Practice Community Nurse

2 HCAs

2 Pharmacists

The business and back-office functions are supported by an experienced Managers and a large pool of admin and reception staff. Our senior management structure supports the development of the practice and staff which ensures the patient journey is of a high standard.

We have on-site parking and use DigiDicate voice recognition for consultations and dictation. We are strongly supported by our secretarial team. Our clinical system is EMIS, our online triage is Footfall and our document management system is Docman.

We provide continuous support to the team which includes morning huddles and lunchtime peer support meetings. We hold regular clinical meetings which can be supportive or prescriptive. We are also a training practice
