Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced practice nurse to join our nursing team. Unfortunately we are not able to consider applicants who haven't got prior practice nurse experience at this time.

The role will involve treatment room duties and carrying out chronic health management.

You will work out of both our sites, Yeadon Health Centre and our branch surgery in Guiseley.

We are looking for a nurse who can work 4 days a week but would consider candidates who are looking to work fewer hours.

We are supportive of career development.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a nurse to carry out nursing procedures to include:

Wound management

Measuring blood pressure

Blood tests

Routine injections as prescribed

Cervical smears

Chronic Health reviews and management including pathology result interpretation,

ECGs

Vaccinations and immunisations

Assisting with minor surgery and IUCD insertion

About us

Guiseley and Yeadon Medical Practice is situated in West Leeds serving a patient population of approximately 12,000 patients.

We have a multidisciplinary team including GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associates, Pharmacists, Paramedics and our nursing team.

We carry out daily huddles and weekly clinical meetings to promote good team communication, best practice and professional development.

We have a Director of Nursing to help support career development and training, including prescribing courses and pathology interpretation.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice working in accordance with the NMC Code of conduct

Provide nursing treatments to Patients independently or in participation with other clinical colleagues working to agreed protocols and guidelines

Provide general and specific health screenings to the Practice Patients within agreed protocols and guidelines referring to other members of the clinical team as necessary

To manage Patients with chronic diseases; running specific clinic sessions and maintaining robust call and recall systems

Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and meet targets delivering the national immunisation and vaccination schedule

Nursing procedures to include:

o Wound management

o Measuring blood pressure

o Routine injections as prescribed

o Cervical smears

o ECGs

o Ear syringing

o Vaccinations and immunisations

o Assisting with minor surgery and IUCD insertion

Provide advice to Patients for general health care and minor ailments, with referral to another clinician as necessary

To participate in research within the Practice

To be responsible for the efficient running of the treatment room and equipment

To assist with the management of leg ulcers

Select, carry out and interpret results of specific tests

Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g. Infection control, Health & Safety, COSHH, etc.) are implemented and adhered to

To maintain accurate, comprehensive records of all consultations and treatments in the Patients notes, both written and computerised

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with Patient health care and registration with the Practice

Ensure collection of statistical information is required for regular and ad hoc reports

To have working knowledge of equipment used in the surgery

Ensure compliance with Patient confidentiality at all times in line with current legislation

Contribute to the development of new Patient services

Inform your line manager of any reported or suspected failings in the provision of care within the Practice

  • Specialist Practitioner General Practice Nursing (approved by the NMC) or commitment demonstrated as working towards

Desirable

  • Accredited training in chronic disease management

  • Phlebotomy
