Job summary

As a GP with WellBN, you will be part of a large, multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing compassionate, community-centered care. You will work closely with allied health professionals to support patients and families, particularly those in disadvantaged communities. We offer robust support for professional development (CPD) and a nurturing work environment, allowing you to focus on providing the best care possible

Main duties of the job

The role involves delivering comprehensive GP services, including consultations (in-person, telephone, and home visits), prescribing, and managing patient care. Responsibilities include assessing health needs, screening for risks, providing health education, and coordinating referrals. The postholder will make autonomous clinical decisions, maintain accurate records, contribute to audits, and perform all standard primary care duties.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

Conduct surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and home visits, addressing queries, paperwork, and repeat prescriptions efficiently.

Make professional, autonomous decisions on presenting issues, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare workers.

Assess and address patients' health care needs, screening for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Provide counseling and health education to promote healthier lifestyles.

Manage admissions and discharges to/from caseloads and refer patients to other providers as necessary.

Record consultation notes clearly and to agreed standards, maintaining high standards of documentation.

Collect and analyze data for audit purposes and prescribe within the practice formulary.

Perform all standard duties associated with a GP role within primary care.

Other Responsibilities within the Organisation

Contribute to new services and innovative care models within primary care.

Maintain awareness and compliance with Practice policies, including those on prescribing, confidentiality, and health and safety.

Engage in lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based, best practices.

Participate in delivering Enhanced Services, Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)/Impact and Investment Fund (IIF) targets, and other performance initiatives.

Assist in the development of computer-based patient records and contribute to summarising and Read-Coding patient data.

  • Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or equivalent.
  • Evidence of commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Experience
  • Proven experience working as a GP in a primary care setting.
  • Experience in managing a range of undifferentiated and undiagnosed clinical conditions.
  • Experience with Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and other quality performance initiatives.
  • Skills and Abilities
