Job summary
Peterloo Medical Centre is a 9500 patient practice in Middleton looking to recruit a part time Practice Nurse.
We are located close to the town centre, and the motorway network.
You will work with a hands on GP surgery team, all of whom are friendly, supportive and approachable. You will have a lead GP Partner over the Nursing staff for support also.
We have high QOF Scores, we are a Gold LGBTQ Award Practice, we are an Armed Forces Veteran Friendly Accredited Practice, and we participate in Research Trials within the Practice.
This role with have the opportunity to work in a hybrid model of Practice Nursing, carrying out Face to Face and Telephone reviews in Practice, and also working from home carrying out Telephone reviews and QoF administration.

About us
Peterloo Medical Centre is a well-established 9500 patient practice in Middleton. We are close to the town centre and motorway networks. We have private parking for staff and are well located for a commute.
We have five GP Partners and two salaried GPs. We are also a training practice and have GPST2 and GPST3 doctors here all year round.
All of the GPs are supportive, entheusiatic and commited to the practice. All departments in the practice have a lead GP Partner to support and guide them.We believe in training and development of our own staff and upskilling staff wherever possible.
You will be part of a nursing team which consists of one other Practice Nurse, a Trainee Nurse Associate, a Healthcare Assistant, and a Trainee Higher Level Healthcare Assistant. You will report directly to the Nursing Lead GP / Practice Manager whilst also self-managing your role.

Primary Responsibilities
To provide a clinically effective practice nursing service to address the health needs of the practice population
To assess, plan and provide healthcare and nursing services to the practice patients ensuring they are effective, relevant and of a high standard in providing optimum levels of care. Services provided to include:
- Management of patients with Long Term Conditions
- Provision of contraceptive advice and assist GPs with contraceptive services
- Cervical screening
- Spirometry/Reversibility and ECG Testing when required
- Administering child immunisations
- Suture removal /. redressing following minor surgery performed in the practice
- Administering travel vaccines and offering travel healthcare advice
- Administering gonadorelin analogue treatment, including provision of Zoladex and Prostap
- Provision of ring pessary services
To work towards acheiving targets laid down in the Quality and Outcomes Framework / Core Plus / IIF
To be involved in the development of care guidelines / protocols in collaboration with the GPs for use in practice
Requesting of pathology services and processing of pathology results as required
Participation in seasonal clinics such as influenza vaccine / Child influenza programmes
Other Duties
To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the EMIS system using agreed templates and snomed codes
Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation assosicateed with patient health care
To collect data and participate in regular practice audit and reseatch projects
to maintain own annual registration with NMC and adhere to Code of Professional Conduct
To ensure own revalidation is completed on time to continue smooth working practice
To check and restock the Emergency Drugs boxes within the practice on a weekly basis
To carry out Infection control spot checks throughout the year, and in liaison with the Practice Manager complete an annual Infection Control audit reporting any issues highlighted througout the year.
