Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities efficient execution of reception duties and the welfare of patients whilst in the waiting or reception area. Maintenance of a competent and pleasant atmosphere at all times.
Opening & Closing premises, checking heating and security of surgeries.
Restoring telephone services.
Sending out letters, new and repeat prescriptions for checking by doctor prior to collection by patient.
Handling general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow-up appointments.
Noting any discrepancies in patient's details so that they may be dealt with on the patient's arrival over the phone.
Handling telephone enquiries for appointments and results.
Reception and routing of patients on arrival.
Maintaining supplies of stationery available in reception area.
Airing and tidying waiting room after sessions.
Stocking up washroom supplies in Staff & patient toilets and hand towels
Repeat prescriptions
Leaving reception area tidy and ready for incoming colleague, together with information regarding unresolved or urgent problems.
Attending & doing Mandatory training courses
Managing spillages
Attending practice monthly meetings or training sessions (Wednesday)
Completing tasks daily
Taking the post daily
Action tray
Hub appointments

Checking Emails daily AM & PM
QOF Recall Systems calling
Calling Flu patients for vaccinations during the season
