Experienced HCA needed!
15 - 22.5 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with a minimum of 5 hours each day.
One of our of HCA team members is currently undertaking the Trainee Nurse Associate programme, whilst they undertake their exciting journey to becoming a Nurse Associate, it has created a need for additional support within our nursing team.
Bancroft Medical Centre is a training practice based in Hitchin, we provide care to approximately 18,500 patients from our two sites in central Hitchin. You will be joining a friendly, well established supportive practice.
Bancroft Medical Centre are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced Health Care Assistant to join our team.
Our ideal candidate has training and experience in general treatment room duties. You should have a minimum of 1 years HCA experience, experience in general practice would be preferred, but not essential. You should be qualified to the minimum of the Skills for Health Care certificate or be able to evidence the equivalent in experience and competencies. Main duties of the job
Our HCA's are valued members of the team, they provide autonomous care to patients, within a set of defined competencies.
Working as part of our nursing team, you will have a planned day with your clinic appointments being pre-booked by our reception team. Your day to day will be providing hands on treatment to patients for: NHS Health Checks and health promotion, BP checks, ECG's, venepuncture, wound care, stitch removals and injections and testing urines. You may also be asked to provide assistance in minor op clinics and coil clinics, this will be added to your rota.

Job Summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the Partners and strictly
in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare
Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery
of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
ECGs
Phlebotomy
Wound Care
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood
pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
Undertake the administration of vaccinations and injections in
accordance with practice protocol
Undertake NHS health check & smoking cessation clinics
Carry out ear irrigation in accordance with agreed treatment
protocols
Assisting with minor surgery and Coil procedures.
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by
GPs/Nurses
Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring according to
protocols, advising patients accordingly
Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Stock control, including checks, rotation and ordering for
clinical supplies as agreed with the lead practice nurse
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before,
during and after patient care interventions including the cleaning of fridges in
accordance with extant guidance.
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can
be promoted
To perform other clinical tasks as trained and agreed to meet the
needs of the practice.
Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease
clinics
Ensuring all record keeping and entries in patient records are in
accordance with NHS and RCN guidance and practice protocol.
