Job summary

We are looking for a Salaried GP for 4 or 5 sessions per week to work with 5 partners, a Salaried GP and an Advanced Practitioner. Annual salary is £10,000 per weekly clinical session. Recently qualified GPs are strongly encouraged to apply to the NHS England GP Fellowship which would pay the successful Salaried GP one additional session of CPD (non-patient contact) work per week.

Our growing list has approximately 7000 patients. We are a training practice to GPST2 Trainees and are looking to expand the training provision in the future to medical students and other clinical roles. The purpose-built surgery premises opened in 2004 includes free secure parking. We use SystmOne clinical software and have two Practice Nurses, a Community Matron, a Community Link worker and a PCN Pharmacist. We scored ‘Good’ in all areas when visited by the CQC.

Main duties of the job

Delivery of effective medical care to the practice population and providing general medical services.

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.

Maintaining accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

m. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

n. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

o. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

p. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

q. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

r. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

s. To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

a. Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead

b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)
