Job responsibilities
Job Summary:
The main
purpose of the role is to:
Assist
doctors and nurses with direct and indirect patient care, within clearly
defined protocols.
To
work under the supervision of the practice nurses and exercise initiative to
help the team maintain the highest standard of nursing care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To
perform Venepuncture.
To
perform electro cardiographs (ECG) and download in patients records
Urine
Testing.
To
receive samples from patients, doctors, practice nurses and the reception team.
To
complete forms, log and prepare for collection to and delivery from the
hospital pathology laboratory.
To
input data into patients medical records, including the use of clinical read
codes.
To
search data on medical records for audit and other purposes.
To
liaise with other service providers as directed by the GPs and practice nurses.
To
communicate with patients and reception staff as required.
To
assist in the general maintenance of the GP rooms, nursing suite and
examination rooms, ensuring the highest clinical standards and required stock
levels are maintained.
To
prepare patients for examination by GPs and nurses, and to chaperone as
required.
To
assist with the monitoring and ordering of stock and to keep stock records.
To
prepare the patient and assist GPs in coil fittings, implanon fitting and
removal and minor surgery.
To
undertake blood pressure monitoring in accordance with practice protocols.
To
perform 24 hour blood pressure monitoring, download the data into patient
records and remove monitors
To
undertake wound care management and dressings.
To undertake
recording of fridge temperatures on a daily/rota basis
To undertake
downloading of the Tiny Tag fridge monitoring to the BRS shared area as
required and appraise the PNs and PM of any issues
To
administer B12, Pneumococcal and influenza, covid vaccinations in accordance with
PSDs on completion of update training
To support
the team in the counting of vaccine and other stock at the end of each month
To
signpost patients to screening eg bowel screening
To
undertake NHS (CVD) Healthchecks, chronic disease/long term conditi0on reviews,
all following practice protocols and templates
To
act as deputy in clearing clinical waste in the absence of the Housekeeper
Any
other duties appropriate to the post which may from time to time be deemed
necessary by the Practice Manager and/or nurses.

and their carers, practice staff, relatives and other healthcare

to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is
to be regarded as strictly confidential.

relating to patients, carers, relatives, colleagues, other healthcare
workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised
persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating
to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.
