Job summary

Springfield Surgery has a compassionate and friendly team. We are looking for a new nurse to join us to cover maternity leave initially with the possibility of continuing with regular ongoing sessions. We care for our patients and staff by working collectively and thinking differently about how to best provide Primary Care.

Our roots, purpose and ethos are central to all that we do as a team. We are looking for a nurse who will share these with us.

Salary is dependent on experience, and we would encourage and support learning and development within your role.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a nurse for up to 30 hours a week. There is flexibility around working days and school holidays.

We are looking for experience in chronic disease management, cervical screening, childhood immunisation and an understanding of QOF.

We have a growing list size of 7200 patients and work from a purpose-built building in an ethnically diverse suburb of Birmingham. We deliver improved access and online consultations with virtual and face to face options. Our team is developing as we respond to the changing needs of our community but we continue to be friendly, aiming for collective leadership and valuing the contributions of all our team members

Practice Nurse- Job Description March 2024 Springfield Surgery

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services care to our practice population. The post will be clinically supported by the two partners, three salaried GPs and existing practice nurse within the team. The post will have a focus upon supporting our patients to be healthy with monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention and screening activities. The post holder will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of our patients in a compassionate way. We encourage and support learning and development to achieve these aims.

Key responsibilities:

Clinical

Support and manage health needs of women presenting for cervical cytology and to target non-attenders opportunistically.

Assess and care for patients presenting with uncomplicated wounds and removal of sutures.

Advise, support and, where appropriate, administer vaccinations for patients travelling abroad.

Undertake ECGs.

Undertake asthma, hypertension, diabetic and COPD reviews.

Venepuncture and urinalysis and requesting pathology tests for example urine culture.

Undertake new patient checks

Support and advise women requesting information relating to family planning needs and womens health and undertaking vaginal swabs.

Undertake immunisations including childhood immunisation when required.

Chaperoning when required by another clinician.

Attend and participate in practice meetings.

On occasion there may be a requirement to attend a home visit

Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
