Job summary
Middle Chare Medical Group are looking for a General Practice Assistant to join our busy admin team to support the GP's. We have 2 surgeries and 10500 patients. Middle Chare is an EMIS practice and high QOF achievers. We have a well established practice team consisting of 5 GP's, 4 NP's alongside nursing and administration staff. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our friendly team. Hours are negotiable.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Arranging appointments, referral, tests and follow up appointments of patients.
Managing e-consults and acting upon the information in the most appropriate way.
Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes.
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc.
Data inputting and data extraction via clinical searches.
Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacists. ANP's etc
Any other tasks allocation by managers/ GP's

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE/NVQ level 2 or equivalent; or detailed patient services knowledge
Desirable
- Experience of working with clinical systems i.e. Emis Web would be desirable.
Skills and Abilities

- Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult or distressed people.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Able to think ahead and anticipate issues.
- Ability to be assertive, but polite and patient.
- Excellent organisation skills required along with ability to prioritise and work to very high standards of performance.
- Commitment to health and safety, equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices in employment and service provision
- Understanding of the needs for confidentiality and compliance with service regimes.
- Able to adapt a flexible working approach

- Must have customer/patient care skills and have worked in a customer/patient facing environment.
- Competence in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to compile and analyse statistical information.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a public sector/healthcare environment would be extremely advantageous.
