Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished, conscientious, forward thinking and highly motivated, experienced Practice Manager to lead and manage our Practice.

Yeading Medical Centre is a long-established Practice and you will be joining a committed, dedicated and friendly team of GP Partner, sessional GPs, Physician Associate, Social Prescriber, Practice Nurses, HCA and Reception, Administrative and Secretarial staff. We are dedicated to providing high quality care to our practice population of 7000 patients. We operate from a single site in a well-equipped and modernised converted property with ample parking facilities.

The Practice is part of the Northolt Primary Care Network and we play an active role together with our partner Practices.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and effective management of the Practice and work closely with the Partner to ensure that the Practice meets it's agreed aims and objectives. The role is multi-faceted and you will lead all aspects of finance and operational management within the Practice, including strategic planning, income and expenditure, human resources, patient service delivery, information technology, clinical governance, quality and performance management and health and safety and CQC compliance.

The Practice enjoys a busy and friendly environment and you will be supported by an administrative team, bookkeeper, compliance officer and work closely with the GP Partner to ensure the smooth running of the Practice.

Job responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be:

Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities

Functional management of all clinical and administrative staff

Managing NHS contractual compliance and statutory business compliance

Managing contracts for services i.e. cleaning, gardening, window cleaning etc

Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives

Coordinating the reviewing and updating of all practice policies and procedures

Developing, implementing and embedding an efficient business resilience plan (BRP)

Managing the financial elements of the practice, including budgets, petty cash, etc. in conjunction with the partners

Ensuring compliance to CQC regulations and requirements

Ensuring the team reach QOF targets (supported by the nursing and administrative leads)

Coordinating the practice diary and practice meetings and liaising at external meetings as required

Marketing the practice appropriately and maintaining the practice and NHS choices websites and other media platforms

Managing the Patient Participation Group

Managing all complaints effectively

Ensuring compliance with HR legislation and deal with disciplinary issues accordingly

The management of the premises, including health and safety aspects such as risk assessments and mandatory training

Managing the practice IT system and ensuring compliance with IT security and IG

Ensuring all staff have the appropriate level of training

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE / A'Level grades A-C in English and Maths
  • Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level in healthcare or business
  • Leadership and / or Management Qualification
  • AMSPAR Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • The successful candidate must be pro-active with a positive can do approach, provide dynamic leadership and have the passion, integrity and initiative to drive success in an ever-changing NHS.
  • Previous NHS primary care practice management experience is essential. A working knowledge and demonstrable skills and competency in all aspects of business management and human resource management, including creating and developing initiatives, building strong relationships and driving change within a practice.
  • Possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, planning and implementation of policies and be able to adapt quickly to a fast-changing, complex environment.
  • Strong IT skills are essential and a willingness to embrace and implement new technologies and drive change.
